Welcome to my site.
Here you can view my work and read about my background and motivation.
It was at the University of The Witwatersrand in Johannesburg where I acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree and a higher teachers diploma.
For several years I taught English and Art, and also pursued my own work by painting at night.
Before moving to the USA in the late 1990’s, I took part in several group shows and held 3 solo shows in Cape Town (Association of Arts gallery) and in Johannesburg.(Karen McKerron Gallery)
I am represented in the Everard Read Dictionary of South African Artists and was invited to participate in both of Sotheby's Operation Hunger auctions.
I also qualified as a porcelain restorer and in the USA qualified as an antique Appraiser with the International Society of Appraisers & am an active member of Roswell Clay Collective.
My interest in Art and Antiques led me to the establishment of several Antique stores.
It was during this busy period of time that I developed a deep love for working with clay.
All my sculptures are completely hand built, bisque fired and either glazed or painted in Acrylics and then waxed.
I am fascinated by Antique American Southern face jugs and their history. I feel that my particular approach to face jugs combines both my skill as a painter and sculptor and reflects a 21st century interpretation, as do my whimsical hand built and painted pots.
It is my intention to create a work of art which is both visually appealing, exciting and intellectually stimulating.
I am a mother and grandmother and I am presently living in Atlanta Georgia with my adorable Mini Australian Labradoodle, Sandi.
